In the mean time, here’s to looking back at the hottest hotels that opened in 2023…

Raffles London at The OWO, London, United Kingdom
A hotel with a history, The Old War Office of Winston Churchill sets the scene for Raffles’ first property in London and the United Kingdom. Raffles London at The OWO is majestic, featuring 120 rooms and suites, including signature suites such as The Whitehall Wing, a 6-bedroom, 500 sqm suite that consists of the actual offices of Churchill, Profumo and Haldane.

The DOLLI, Athens, Greece
Athens (and the surrounding region) has seen a flurry of luxury hotel openings, but it’s the boutique nature of The DOLLI, run by Greece’s largest luxury hotel group, Grecotel, and just a few steps from the Acropolis, that caught our eye with its 46 rooms and suites with a modern, elegant design.

Regent Hong Kong, Hong Kong S.A.R.
The legendary Regent Hong Kong, which started off as the Regent’s flagship property worldwide in 1980 on the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront, then had a decade-plus long stint under the InterContinental brand, has returned back to its roots under the Regent umbrella after a full-scale renovation.

Son Bunyola, Mallorca, Spain
Richard Branson took over a 16th-century Mallorcan finca and turned it into the latest hotel under the Virgin Limited Edition collection. More than 20 years in the making, the hotel’s 26 rooms and suites add to the finca’s three villas on the estate.

COMO Alpina Dolomites, Italy
The Dolomites, despite being one of the geographically most beautifuldestinations in the world, lacks the range of luxury properties that Italy is traditionally known for (though there are some gorgeous boutique/family-run resorts). COMO’s latest opening in South Tyrol that stays open year-round, changes that with a ski-in/ski-out resort with 60 rooms and suites.

Atlantis, The Royal, Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Being arguably Dubai’s hottest hotel opening of the decade, nevermind year, must take some doing. Atlantis, The Royal at the fringes of The Palm in Dubai, brings the concept of the Las Vegas and Macau-style destination hotel but with more care and attention that is expected from a true luxury hotel, with the architectural marvel seen in hotels in Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.

Rissai Valley, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Jiuzhaigou, China
It’s not every year Ritz-Carlton opens a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, so a new Ritz-Carlton Reserve opening is certainly news. Rissai Valley, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, opened in Jiuzhaigou in China, in a northern Sichuan Province’s national nature reserve, overlooking the snowcapped Minshan mountain range – a region truly worthy of a Ritz-Carlton Reserve property.

Bulgari Hotel Tokyo, Japan
Bulgari Hotel Tokyo’s opening continues Bulgari Hotels expansion across the key cities of the world, with 5 floors of a towering skyscraper, overlooking the red brick Tokyo Station and the Imperial Gardens, and Mount Fuji beyond.

&Beyond Punakha River Lodge, Bhutan
Known for its stunning nature-focused lodges in Africa and South America, &Beyond’s new lodge on the banks of the Mo Chu River in the Punakha Valley in Bhutan showcases the group’s commitment to creating unique properties that draw inspiration from its surrounds.

Soho House Mexico City, Mexico
The London-based private members’ club took over a restored Baroque casa in Mexico City and converted it into a club and hotel, also featuring a vinyl room, outdoor pool and pool house and bar.
