What makes it special?
How often can you say you’ve stayed in the house of once the world’s richest man? The crown jewel in the Taj Falaknuma Palace, formerly a palace of the Nizam of Hyderabad (and his chosen residence among 17 owned at the time), is the extravagant The Nizam Suite, once the quarters of royalty itself.
Painstakingly restored over a decade by Princess Esra, a descendent of the family, a precious Italian-marble jacuzzi bathroom, ornate custom furnishings from Turkey, a private pool with a terrace and garden, and paintings dating back centuries adorning each wall are naturally a given. Among the largest suites in the country when counting its gardens, pool and terrace, the suite also comes with private dining experiences and a private qawwali (Sufi musicians who sing traditional hymms) session, private access to the Jiva Grand Spa, as well as a dedicated butler.

The palace itself was also restored to its original glory by a collaboration between Taj Hotels under the guidance of Princess Esra, with its many iconic grand rooms such as the Durbar Hall, the Jade Room and the 90-seater dining table in the Dining Hall now serving as event venues. The Taj Falaknuma Palace continues to delight its guests who want to enjoy a piece of history, from unique horse-drawn carriage arrivals to guided tours of the Palace which acts as a defacto museum from a historian.
