Notes for Chin

Home page slider

Make posts ‘sticky’ for the featured image of any post to appear in slider.

Image sizes:

  • Featured image – 1140 × 395 if the photo is to appear on the home page. If you don’t make the post ‘sticky’, the post image will not appear on the home page slider which may be a better solution if you only have a small image. If not appearing on home page use a size of: 233 x 144
  • Post image – 660px wide
  • Featured image is set from within the post – look on the right panel and scroll down until you see ‘set featured image’.

These provide another way for people to navigate the site. Keep them consistent – i.e. sentence style. You can edit them under the ‘Posts’ menu item on the left panel (hover and you will see options for categories and tags as well as view all posts).

Toggle code that hides the fast facts

The ‘toggle’ short code is this format. I have highlighted the key parts in red but when you use it , change it to be black as the extra code may cause problems.

To Use Map Plugin

This is a Shortcodes Ultimate function (Shortcodes Ultimate is one of your plugins that adds a range of functions including the toggle above). Format:

To find the location/ geo coordinates, use Google maps to find the property, right click and from the drop down menu, select ‘What is here’. You will then get the geo coordinates.

To get a green light for your post, select your ‘focus keyword’ and put it in the field at the bottom of the post. You’ll see a list of instructions. Note that the plugin is far far more literal than Google, so it will tell you that your keyword isn’t in the title – when it is, just with punctation. Google is smarter than this so just use it as a guide.

Important: Do customize the excerpt/meta text. This is what people see when they search on Google so use it to entice people to click on YOUR story.
